What's Involved
Using crème Wax
A thin layer of wax is applied to the skin. There are different methods for doing this including the traditional spatula, roll on and plastic applicator. Next a fabric or paper strip is pressed onto the waxed area, rubbed in and quickly pulled away against the direction of hair growth, removing the hair from its follicle. This is repeated over the whole area and the treatment finishes with an aftercare lotion to soothe the skin.
Using hard Brazilian Wax
Brazilian wax is usually applied using a spatula. Unlike the crème wax a thicker coat is applied which solidifies in a few minutes. The solid wax is pulled off without the need for a fabric strip. The hard wax is ideal for sensitive areas as it does not stick to the skin.
It is very important that the skin in the area being waxed is kept taught to avoid any bruising. To help this you may be asked to change positions during the treatment or to use your hands to pull down on the skin.
Using the latest high tech hard waxes
There are now several brands of high tech wax that make waxing less painful and easier. These waxes are applied like Brazilian wax (see above) but they tend to be more pliable and less likely to break when being pulled off than conventional waxes. They also shrink wrap around the hair making them more effective for the removal of male hair which can be very course and deeply rooted. Ask your therapist for more details.
